This year, Butler House celebrates 240 years of history. Built in 1786 as the Dower House to Kilkenny Castle, the house has long been a place of welcome and quiet elegance. Today, it continues that tradition, offering guests an authentic experience shaped by Georgian heritage, thoughtful hospitality and a sense of calm that feels gently removed from the outside world.

Guests can enjoy a delicious cream tea at almost any time of (served 11 am till 9 pm), a relaxed lunch, or an unhurried evening with light bites served in our Garden View Bar from our evening menu, a traditional Beef & Guinness Hot Pot, toasted sandwich or an Irish Cheese Plate or Butler House Dips Selection, all accompanied by a nice wine or drink from our fully stocked bar. It is a setting where time softens and meals are savoured rather than rushed.
