Dining at Butler House
Butler House kitchen is overseen by our Executive Chef Gerard Dunne. Gerard ensures every dish is perfect and his ethos is that the best meals start with the best ingredients. Wherever possible he will source the finest local, natural, organic and seasonal ingredients, within a 60-km radius of the property. His classic, generous, deeply flavorsome dishes display true technical precision, as well as a close relationship with the source of every ingredient, be it fisherman or gardener.
Our seasonal vegetables are sourced from Riversfield Farm, where weekly our chef gets an update on produce from the cold frames, vegetable plots and seasonal borders.

Fish is landed from the day boats on the south coast and delivered by the Kilkenny Fisherman’s Market Company.
Glenilen Farm in Co. Cork supply our butter.
Gerard makes his own raspberry jam and lemon curd for our buttermilk scones.
The sausages which will be featured on the new breakfast menu are a special blend specifically made for Butler House by Grogan and Brown Artisan butchers nearby in Loughboy.
Our cheese board celebrates the remarkable rebirth of Irish cheeses from small farms all over the county.
Our coffee beans are from Coffee Perfection and our special blend teas are sourced by our chef from Ronnefeldt Fine Loose Teas to complement our menus.

Our guests will enjoy the historic setting of Butler House with the splendour of the large bay windows, original plastered ceilings, crisp white linen, castle views and the finest locally sourced food. Our tea room walls are adorned with magnificent pieces of art from the Basil Goulding Collection.
Butler House Tea Room is open for Breakfast and Morning Tea from 8am -10am, and Lunch from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Afternoon Tea is served from 2-4pm(pre-booking is essential).
Butlers' Pantry, our eclectic basement restaurant and bar, is available for private dining events such as Engagement Parties, Christenings, Confirmations, Communions and more!
Butler House is also a perfect setting for small weddings and private events seating up for up to 70 guests in an exclusive garden view room overlooking the walled garden and the majestic Kilkenny Castle.
