Join us for a very special event at Butler House to explore the legacy of this extraordinary love story.
Enjoy an evening of history, conversation, and reflection as we celebrate one of Ireland’s most captivating love stories, the story of Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby brought to life through film, discussion, and storytelling in the elegant surroundings of Butler House.
- A special screening of The Ladies of Llangollen, an episode from TG4’s acclaimed documentary series Scéalta Grá na hÉireann, followed by a conversation with filmmaker Patrick O’Shea.
- An engaging talk by Dr Anthony Delaney, Kilkenny-born historian, podcaster, and author of Queer Georgians, returning from his UK book tour to share insights from his exploration of “the hidden history of lovers, lawbreakers and homemakers”, including a chapter dedicated to Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby.
