Butler House & Garden launches redesign of bedrooms

Butler House, the award-winning hospitality provider in Kilkenny city and a member of Ireland’s prestigious Blue Book collection of Country Houses and Restaurants, has just launched their new bedroom redesign. The redesign commenced with three bedrooms and these rooms return to a more authentic design approach to the sophistication of a Georgian townhouse.  Each bedroom has an eclectic style which draws on influences from the Georgian and Regency period and includes the story of the Kilkenny Design workshops which were such an important part of the story of Butler House.

Orla Kelly, designer and colour specialist, has honed her skills and experience in London, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, Holland, New York and Florida is the designer on the project. Orla’s approach with Butler House was to return to the inspiration of the magnificent architecture and original purpose of this wonderful Georgian Dower house with close connections to Kilkenny Castle. The three initial bedroom redesign are the Botanical Room, Kilkenny Design Room and the Orient Room and this design concept will be rolled out into the rest of the bedrooms in the House over the coming years. The Georgian period is still considered by many to be the pinnacle of Interior design with unmatched purity of design and colour. “I have tried to capture the essence of this in the redesign of Butler House” commented Orla.

Butler House is the property of Kilkenny Civic Trust, and the aim of the trust is to maintain and restore beautiful heritage properties such as this. Ciaran Conroy, CEO of Kilkenny Civic Trust is delighted with how the new bedroom design evolved, “this has been an amazing project to work on with Orla and we are delighted with how it has turned out and really looking forward to this design being used through the whole house, it is important to invest and maintain wonderful old Houses like Butler House for future generations”.
